Trade & Travel Journal [Manila] – World-class tertiary hospital The Medical City (TMC) held a two-day ‘Be Healthy Always Movement’ event at the Trinoma Mall last October 10. TMC inspired, moved and empowered every Filipinos who have joined to start taking an active role in their health.

“Prevention should be integrated into all aspects of our lives. Through regular check-ups, diseases can be detected in their early stages hence allowing doctors to immediately manage them effectively without the expensive treatments.” Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon said as he lead the welcoming remarks and ribbon cutting.

Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon is the President and CEO of The Medical City who’s personal philosophy which brought about The Medical City’s value proposition, “Where patients are partners.”

Dr. Alfredo RA Bengzon

He is an accomplished Neurologist, and received his Doctor of Medicine in 1961 from the University of the Philippines and his Master in Business Administration in 1972 from the Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business.

He also served as Secretary of Health from 1986 to 1992 during the Corazon Aquino administration, and in 1991, he received the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for his excellence in the field of government services.

Because of his vast experience as a medical expert in the private and public sectors, he had come to observe an imbalance in the typical patient-doctor relationship, with doctors dispensing medical advice that patients simply receive without question.

Dr. Bengzon desired to create a more substantial patient-doctor dynamic, wherein the two communicate and cooperate as equals, and this has since become the cornerstone for The Medical City’s drive for excellence.

“At TMC, we are committed to empowering families to making healthier choices by expanding our services to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to all,” said Dr. Bengzon

“Through the Be Healthy Always Movement, we want to inspire and push every Filipino to start taking an active role in caring for their health, to see families live life to its fullest and as burden-free as possible.”
